My instruments

Contemporary classic.

Frédéric Noharet

I build following my personal instinct and today I propose a modern, dynamic and innovative lutherie.
Which looks to the future, while respecting the canons of the ancient Cremonese method.
Antonio Stradivari himself showed us the way, experimenting and deviating visibly from the work of Nicolò Amati, his teacher and already the best luthier of the time.
Finding a safe and consistent method for making high quality instruments showed me how much imagination we lose in focusing attention on a few models copied for almost two centuries now.
From my point of view, my original models are today those being fully inspired by tradition.
They are born from the dialogue established with the musician who entrusts me with the work, which I then design as an architect and build as a craftsman.

Each of my instruments is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, a document that certifies its uniqueness and quality.
To make this certificate unique and irreproducible I enter all the information by hand.
Measures and a presentation text accompany the pictures ensuring the identification of the instrument.

Federico De Mori

(from my ex-wife’s surname: Mori)

Federico De Mori’s traditional lutherie represents my classical past, the Italian spirit, the first chapter of my history as a luthier.
The instruments that I have signed with this name until 2015 are the expression of the classic Cremonese style
and are built according to the traditional method of this school.
After graduating in Cremona, I spent the years of my training in the field making assumptions on the gestures and technique of an Italian luthier dating back to the sixteenth century, convinced that the means and knowledge of the time were sufficient to obtain instruments of the highest quality.
The imagination of myself as an Italian from the sixteenth century was such that I eventually ended up wishing to bear the Italian name as well.
